Cacao
Petkovškovo nabrežje 3
All the ice cream at popular Ljubljana patisserie Cacao is made on the premises using only first-class ingredients from all over the world. Their recipes contain milk and cream from Slovenia, pistachios and almonds from Sicily, hazelnuts from Piedmont, walnuts from Sorrento, vanilla from Madagascar, cinnamon from Sri Lanka, cocoa from South America and citrus fruits from southern Italy.
Fétiche Patisserie
Cankarjevo nabrežje 25
In the warmer months of the year, this French patisserie on the Ljubljanica embankment puts a display freezer out on its terrace... and it’s simply impossible to walk past without stopping for a scoop or two. Made using the finest ingredients, Fétiche’s ice cream comes in all the classic flavours and also more exotic ones such as black sesame or even Gorgonzola and walnut.
Gelateria Romantika
Dvorni trg 1
A boutique gelateria offering a daily selection of fresh, natural hand-made creamy gelatos and refreshing sorbettos, juicettos and granitas – all made to traditional Italian recipes. With no artificial flavours, colourings or preservatives and no pre-prepared bases, just an abundance of deliciousness.
Ice Wave
Trubarjeva 7
If you like a bit of a show to go with your ice cream, then Ice Wave on Trubarjeva is the right place for you. Before your very eyes, the staff will use your chosen ingredients to make attractive and delicious ice cream rolls on an ice-cold metal surface, and then finish them off with a wide range of toppings and sprinkles.
Kresnička
Podutiška 29
Even outside the centre of Ljubljana you can find excellent ice cream. Kresnička is a legendary patisserie in the Koseze district, where in addition to traditional milk-based ice creams they offer a vegan version and so many different flavours that there is sure to be something for everyone.
Lolita
Cankarjevo nabrežje 1
Turn right from the Triple Bridge onto the Cankar Embankment and you will find yourself in front of Lolita, where you can treat yourself to a scoop (or two) of ice cream made fresh daily on the premises. Because Lolita uses only first-class natural ingredients, their sinful icy treats have a pure natural flavour.
Rustika City Park
Šmartinska 152
For the team at Rustika, making ice cream is a matter of hard work, skill and commitment (the same principle they apply to all their other sweet creations). They make their ice cream from scratch every day, using no factory-made ice cream bases, which means that their products also contain less sugar and fat.
The Ice Cream
Ajdovščina 2
Opened last April, this new Ljubljana ice creamery has quickly attracted a lot of interest among ice cream lovers thanks to its interesting selection of flavours. At Easter we got the chance to sample an ice cream based on traditional Slovene potica cake, while their display freezer also contains a number of savoury ice creams.
Vigò
Mačkova 2
This popular Ljubljana gelateria sticks to tried and tested Italian recipes spiced up with a little imagination (and topped with melted chocolate). Salt caramel with chocolate and peanuts, cheesecake with blueberries, yoghurt with mango and cardamom, or a chocolate classic – it’s a difficult decision, but always a tasty one!
Zvezda
Wolfova 12
Ljubljana’s Zvezda café and patisserie is a classic choice for all lovers of sweet treats. As well as traditional dairy-based ice creams, Zvezda offers vegan ice creams made with rice milk and versions made with 100% fruit. The secret of all their ice creams lies in the use of the highest quality natural ingredients. They also avoid sugar where possible, preferring to rely on natural sweeteners.
